Adi provides support in the shape of various incentive schemes
to applied research projects. Over the last few years Adi has
managed programmes designed to support technological innovation
Applied
Corporate Research and Development
Support to research and development projects and technological
development, engaging businesses and SCTN (National Science &
Technology System) organisations, associated by means of consortium
contracts, with the aim of developing new products, processes
or services.
Objectives:
evaluation of results and the transfer of technologies from
the SCTN organisations to the production sector;
development and engendering of technologies that enable the
development of new products, processes or services;
support for the participation of national consortiums in specific
international technological research and development projects,
namely as part of community or international programmes.

of Incentives for Economic Modernisation) and POCI 2010 (Operational
Programme for Science and Innovation 2010)
Funding from FEDER (European Fund for Regional Development) and

SIFIDE
- Financial Incentives Scheme for Corporate Research and Development
Adi promotes and encourages the use of this system of financial
incentives which permits businesses to offset R&D expenses
against their corporate taxes (SIFIDE).
Human Resources are essencial to innovation. This is why Adi
provides incentives for researcher mobility by co-financing the
hiring of staff with doctorates and master's degrees.
Adi signed protocols enabling university graduates to received
advanced training at major scientific organizations such as CERN
- European Particle Physic's Laboratory, ESA - European Space
Agency and ESO - European Space Observatory.
In order to support advanced studies tailored to the needs of
Portuguese industry, Adi fosters the creation of Master's Degree
courses promoted by the business sector.
Placement
of Masters and PhDs in Enterprises and Technology Centres
The scheme for supporting the placement of Masters and PhDs
enables companies to have access to key advanced knowledge, so
as to consolidate their competitiveness.
Objectives:
Support the placement of highly qualified resources (masters
and PhDs) in companies to undertake functions that demand autonomy
and the capacity for research and development, with the objective
of encouraging innovation and increasing companies’ competitiveness.

BDE
– Doctoral Scholarships in Companies
Granting of advanced training scholarships in the corporate
sector, through cooperation between companies and universities,
for projects of interest to the businesses that allow students
to achieve doctoral degrees, awarded granted by universities.
This initiative is the joint responsibility of the Agency for
Innovation, responsible for the promotion of contacts with the
business sector, and of the Foundation for Science and Technology,
which promotes the evaluation and administration of the scholarships.

by funding from the state budget of the Ministry of Science, Technology
& Higher Education, and by POCI 2010
Scholarships
for Traineeships: CERN, ESA e ESO
The Agency for Innovation offers opportunities for advanced
training to young Portuguese graduates in large international
scientific organizations, such as CERN (European Organization
for Nuclear Research), ESA (European Space Agency) and ESO (European
Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere),
in technological areas where the competence of these organizations
is internationally recognised, and that are of strategic importance
for the increase in the competitiveness of Portuguese companies.

Científico - Postgraduate careers in business
deGRAU Científico offers companies a database of profiles
of candidates who wish to develop their career in the business
sector, with a view to boosting the placement of qualified human
resources, and promoting scientific employment in business.
