Description	Innovative targets for beam production at CERN-ISOLDE The present project deals with the synthesis, characterization and in-beam tests of new targets for the production of radioactive ion beams. CERN-ISOLDE is constantly innovating in target technology, with the synthesis and design of composite materials with improved heat conductivity, nanomaterials with improved isotope release properties, exposed to intense beams at high temperatures under vacuum. Special Requirements	The candidate will work with inorganic and nano- materials and with techniques for the detection of radioisotopes. Self-motivation, curiosity, interest for nuclear physics/chemistry disciplines would be an advantage.
Training Value	Synthesis of novel inorganic materials. Characterization. Operation of an isotope mass separator. Participation to international collaborations. Oral presentations, written reports. Interfacing with academic and industrial laboratories.
