Title: Characterisation of chemical and electrochemical surface treatments Motivation: Chemical and electrolytic treatments, both polishing and plating, have wide applications at CERN and the Organization benefits largely of the in-house expertise. Copper, Nickel, Silver, Gold and Rhodium are some of the metals that are deposited at our workshop by well qualified technicians. CERN as a constant need to update, adapt or apply new surface treatments. The VSC-SCC section proposes to: - extend the CERN know-how to any innovative electrolytic method relevant for CERN; - verify the applicability of the methods to the CERN infrastructures; - determine the quality of the new processes by electrochemical, mechanical, electrical and vacuum measurements.
Special Requirements
University degree in chemistry or material sciences. Knowledge of electrochemistry, surface physics, surface finishing, vacuum technology and thin films production would be an advantage.
